Job summary

CommonPlace is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our apartment communities in top condition. You will perform make-readies, respond to service requests, and work with the property and maintenance team to maintain quality spaces for residents.

Candidates should have apartment maintenance or handyman experience, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical knowledge, and be comfortable using tools. On-call readiness and occasional weekend work are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in apartment maintenance or as a handyman.
• HVAC knowledge with certification preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and self-motivation.
• Experience using power and hand tools safely.
• Positive, resident-focused attitude; supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• On-call availability and weekend work.
• Willingness to travel between nearby properties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare apartment homes for new residents with high-quality make-readies.
• Respond to service requests promptly and professionally.
• Maintain appearance and function of apartments, amenities, grounds, and buildings.
• Oversee vendor work to ensure quality and timeliness.
• Stay compliant with OSHA standards and follow company safety policies.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance.
• Handle lock changes, snow/ice removal, and other on-site needs.
• Be available for on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies.
• Report unusual or urgent issues to the Property Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.
