Job summary

Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport (HACS) seeks a skilled Maintenance Technician to respond to maintenance requests, perform repairs in residential units and common areas, and prepare vacants for occupancy. Ideal candidates have at least two years of experience, strong carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC basics, and the ability to work independently with good customer service.

This on-site role emphasizes safety, inventory control, and timely communication with residents

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in apartment, residential, or commercial maintenance.
• Practical skills in carpentry, painting, and general building repairs.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond to maintenance requests and complete repairs in residential units and common areas.
• Perform general maintenance, including carpentry, painting, drywall, flooring, appliance, plumbing, and basic electrical repairs.
• Complete preventative maintenance and inspections to identify and address issues proactively.
• Prepare vacant units for occupancy.
• Maintain grounds, landscaping, and common areas, including seasonal cleanup.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and report/correct hazards.
• Maintain work orders, maintenance records, and inventory of tools and supplies.
• Provide professional customer service and respond to emergency maintenance calls as needed.
