Job summary

Somerset Pacific is seeking a dependable Cleaner / Maintenance Technician to maintain our apartment community and prepare vacant homes for new residents. This hands‑on role combines cleaning, make‑ready work, common‑area upkeep, and basic maintenance.

The ideal candidate is reliable, detail‑oriented, able to work independently, and takes pride in providing residents with a clean, well‑maintained community. Comfort with minor repairs and basic painting is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Previous apartment cleaning, janitorial, housekeeping, maintenance, or make‑ready experience is preferred but not required.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to follow instructions, safety procedures, and company policies.
  • Comfortable using standard cleaning products, tools, and equipment.
  • Basic maintenance and painting skills are a plus.
  • Professional and respectful when working in and around residents' homes.
  • Fair Housing knowledge is preferred; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and prepare vacant apartments for new residents.
  • Detailed cleaning of kitchens, bathrooms, floors, windows, fixtures, appliances, and other surfaces.
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, and maintain flooring.
  • Clean and maintain community restrooms, clubhouse areas, and other common spaces as assigned.
  • Remove trash and maintain clean, orderly work areas.
  • Assist with apartment make‑ready tasks, including painting, replacing window coverings, and other basic repairs.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks that do not require a licensed professional, such as replacing light bulbs and fuses.
  • Apply paint, stain, or varnish to appropriate surfaces as needed.
  • Maintain cleaning and maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Identify and report maintenance concerns or major repairs to management.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and monitor work performed by outside contractors when requested.
  • Follow proper procedures when using cleaning chemicals, equipment, and machinery.
  • Follow company safety procedures and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous attitude when interacting with residents, coworkers, vendors, and management.
  • Assist with additional cleaning, maintenance, and property‑related duties as needed.
  • Participate in after‑hours/on‑call maintenance coverage when necessary.

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands‑on position. Employees must be able to regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive cleaning and maintenance tasks. The position requires frequently lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment

Work is performed on‑site at the apartment community and may include both indoor and outdoor duties. Employees may occasionally work around cleaning chemicals, maintenance equipment, fumes, dust, weather conditions, and other conditions commonly associated with apartment maintenance and cleaning.
