Heavy Equipment Operator

Pay: $20/hr., depending on experience

Job Description Summary

Ensure the safe, efficient, and proper operation of various heavy equipment. Responsibilities include:

  1. Operate equipment such as loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, backhoes, etc.
  2. Follow equipment manuals and incorporate their information.
  3. Maintain and review the equipment and vehicle condition report (LMP-68).
  4. Communicate daily job specifications with Project Manager/Foreperson and operate equipment responsibly.
  5. Perform daily pre-start procedures, including checking fluid levels and equipment condition, and complete LMP-68.
  6. Coordinate with supervisors regarding production and materials.
  7. Be aware of and coordinate with other equipment on site.
  8. Position equipment for accessibility and keep it clean for safety and inspection.
  9. Follow directions and work in a safety-sensitive environment.
Other Requirements
  • Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home, including nights and weekends.
  • Report to work on time, dressed appropriately.
  • Adhere strictly to safety policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively and assist co-workers or supervisors as needed.
Work Requirements
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Complete a 'Fit for Work' physical.
  • Provide valid I-9 documentation.
  • Display professionalism and maintain acceptable attendance.
  • Work weekends or overtime as required.
  • Work outdoors in extreme temperatures.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous related experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 2010 and Outlook.
