Job summary

Acerinox is seeking an AP1 exit operator to manage the coil line, ensuring operation aligns with quality and productivity goals. The role emphasizes adhering to work instructions, safety rules, and effective communication with upstream/downstream teams.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor AP1 coil line to meet quality and productivity goals.
  • Check coil schedules, identify correct coil and enter machine sheets.
  • Observe for defects and communicate issues to line personnel.
  • Coordinate with SKP operator and perform tasks at SKP as required.
  • Ensure proper interleaving paper and cores are available and used.
  • Follow all safety rules and maintain housekeeping and cleanliness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and participate in continuous improvement.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

AP1 exit operator is responsible for all operating functions as listed below. Operation of the AP1 Unit must be understood in total with the focus of utilizing the equipment to meet all the quality and productivity goals as outlined in our quality system. All work instructions must be followed as outlined.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Check schedule of coils to be run to ensure correct coil is on the line.
  2. Receive communication from Entry of coil number running and observe for any incoming defects.
  3. Monitor coils in line for steering and defects, correct as necessary.
  4. Work with the Pickling/SKP operator while performing all functions at the SKP.
  5. Start the coil to the Tension Reel and insert interleaving paper and cores as per work instructions.
  6. Ensure that there is an ample supply of the correct interleaving paper and cardboard cores readily available.
  7. Properly identify coils exiting the unit as per work instructions and enter all machine sheets.
  8. Follow all prescribed safety rules.
  9. Housekeeping/maintenance work as assigned.
  10. Any other jobs as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Other duties as assigned
  2. Participation in relevant continuous improvement programs.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum of High School Degree or Equivalent (GED).

PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Mobility in plant
  • While performing the duties of (this job), the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, etc.
  • The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Visual ability with or without correction
  • Communication abilities
HEALTH AND SAFETY
  1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
  2. Follow Company safety rules
  3. Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately
  4. Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn:
  5. a. Safety shoes
  6. b. Safety glasses
  7. c. Hearing protection
  8. d. Hard Hat
  9. Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as:
  10. e. Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply with company policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.
  11. f. Fire Retardant clothing
  12. g. Acid PPE
  13. 5. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy
  14. 6. Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines
  15. 7. Must follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations
  16. 8. Maintain a clean and safe work area
WORK ENVIRONMENT
