Job summary

IDEA Public Schools in Houston seeks an experienced high school teacher to deliver rigorous instruction aligned with state standards and IDEA curricula. You will develop lesson plans, track progress, and prepare students for college through dual enrollment, AP, or IB courses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution (required)
• State teaching certification or eligibility strongly preferred
• Experience in a K-12 classroom setting preferred
• Knowledge of IDEA curricula and assessment expectations

Responsibilities

• Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations
• Deliver content and grade-level curriculum, core content objectives, and texts
• Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback
• Track each student’s progress, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update gradebook weekly
• Communicate students’ progress with students and family on a weekly basis
• Manage classroom behavior and foster a positive learning environment in alignment with campus initiatives
• Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, and school-wide activities
• Commit to 40+ hours on-site per week and support after-school tutoring when needed
