Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking an AOV Technician for a short-term contract (4–6 weeks) with 100% travel. You will disassemble mechanical control devices, calibrate regulators, meters and gauges, install relays and power sources, and perform leak testing and alignment checks to verify accuracy.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, vocational/technical training or EPRI qualifications, and at least three years of AOV/actuator valve calibration experience, plus

Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in AOV/actuator valve calibration and maintenance.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Mechanical and electrical experience.
  • U.S. Navy nuclear background or equivalent training.
  • Pass pre-employment screenings and assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble and calibrate control devices and valves.
  • Calibrate instrumentation for pressure, flow, temperature, and level.
  • Install and test meters, relays, power sources.
  • Perform leak testing and valve adjustments.
  • Support troubleshooting and improvements.
  • Complete work orders and documentation.
  • Follow safety and quality standards; observe nuclear program norms.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays.

Opportunity Overview

AOV Technician

100% Travel

Contract, short-term, 4 to 6 weeks, ranging 40-72 hours per week

We may offer contractors more than one short-term assignment.

Your Day-to-Day
  • Report to the On-Site Manager.
  • Disassemble mechanical control devices, valves, and related systems using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Calibrate instrumentation such as regulators, meters, and gauges for accuracy in pressure, flow, temperature, and level.
  • Install, inspect, and test electric meters, relays, and power sources to detect malfunctions and verify accuracy.
  • Perform leak testing, valve adjustments, and alignment checks using appropriate gauges and tools.
  • Support field troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and continuous improvement plans.
  • Complete work orders with accurate documentation of tasks and daily field activity logs.
  • Ensure safety of self and team and prevent damage to plant equipment.
  • Follow Quality standards and procedural guidelines set by the customer.
  • Comply with work hour requirements and observe Quality, Radiological, Human Performance, and other nuclear program norms.
  • Use appropriate PPE, including respirators, fall protection, safety glasses, and hard hats.
  • Follow lockout/tag out requirements.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Who You Are
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational, technical training or EPRI qualifications.
  • Three (3) years of experience in AOV/actuator valve calibration and maintenance.
  • Mechanical and electrical experience; ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • U.S. Navy nuclear background or equivalent training in reactor maintenance or operations.
  • Satisfactory performance rating from previous work (based on client and contractor feedback).
  • Proficiency in using basic hand tools, electrical instruments, diagnostic tools, and conducting maintenance following OSHA or client requirements for electrical and mechanical safety.
  • Complete and pass all pre-employment and employment screening requirements, which may include practical and written skills assessments, computer-based training, medical, psychological, background, and substance abuse screenings.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $45.00/hour to $55.00/hour.
