Job summary

J&T is seeking an AOI Operator I for electronics manufacturing in Seymour, CT. You will set up, run, and monitor AOI inspections on PCBAs to identify defects and ensure first-pass yield targets.

Responsibilities include loading boards, maintaining ESD safety, logging defects in the MIS, and mentoring peers. IPC-A-610 certification and basic math/IT skills are valued in a high-reliability environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• 0 to 3 years of related industry experience in electronics manufacturing, SMT assembly, or quality inspection.
• IPC-A-610 Certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Component Identification training required (resistors, capacitors, diodes, IC packages, polarity markings).
• Shop Floor Tracking Systems / MIS (e.g., Aegis).
• Basic computer proficiency (navigating directory structures, application launch, and system shutdown).
• Basic mathematical proficiency (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across whole numbers, fractions, and decimals).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, or schematic form.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Positive, cooperative approach to team problem-solving and process adjustments.

Responsibilities

• Operate AOI equipment according to standards and schedules.
• Load, run, and unload boards while preventing ESD damage.
• Code or modify basic inspection programs to optimize performance.
• Perform optical inspection to identify anomalies (misalignments, bridging, solder balls, tombstoning, polarity, missing/inverted parts).
• Record defects and dispositions using the MIS (Aegis).
• Address routine feed issues and escalate systemic quality trends to supervisors.
• Assist in training and mentoring AOI operators on SOPs and standards.
• Communicate with SMT operators, hand solder technicians, and line leads.
• Adhere to OSHA and SDS procedures.
