Job summary

Office of the Indiana Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division, Consumer Litigation Section, seeks a Deputy Attorney General to lead investigation, review, and litigation of antitrust and consumer protection matters. You will represent the State and its citizens, manage high-volume cases, and coordinate with other agencies on enforcement efforts.

Requirements include 2-3 years of legal experience and Indiana bar admission or eligibility.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years legal experience required.
• Licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana, or eligible for Indiana licensure, required.
• Travel may be required within and outside the State.
• Excellent research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
• Strong organizational and time-keeping abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assesses facts and law to recommend disposition of complaints alleging unfair, abusive, or deceptive acts against consumers.
• Reviews decisions, policies, regulations, and other legal matters.
• Maintains caseload of investigation and litigation cases addressing consumer protection and antitrust laws.
• Reviews pre-merger notices submitted under Indiana law.
• Handles all phases of litigation, including research, pleadings, discovery, hearings, and trials.
• Advises other divisions and state agencies on consumer protection issues and laws.
• Coordinates enforcement efforts with other state and federal regulators.
• Interacts with the public to educate Indiana consumers about protections.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by Section Chief or Director.
• Position may require travel.
