Job summary

Central York School District is seeking a part-time Cook/Cashier to join the Central York High School food service team. The ideal candidate will be experienced in food preparation and customer service, ensuring nutritious meals and a clean, safe kitchen environment.

Responsibilities include meal preparation, cashiering, and positive interactions with students and staff. The district emphasizes a professional image, nutrition, and student well-being, and offers a team-centered work setting

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Knowledge in the food service industry with an understanding of nutrition, sanitation and food safety is preferred.
• ServSafe preferred.
• Cooking experience preferred.
• General working knowledge of computers preferred.
• Must demonstrate the ability to be highly structured and organized & have good communication skills.
• Must have obtained (or will obtain) valid PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse, and FBI Criminal History Background clearances within the past twelve (12) months.

• Assist the Head Cook in estimating the quantities of food to students and staff.
• Actively participate in the serving of food to students and staff.
• Assist and participate in the necessary cleanup of all cafeteria-related areas.

• Become knowledgeable about the overall operation to insure continuity and consistency of service in the event of personnel absence.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of safe operation of all kitchen equipment.
• Interact with students and staff in a courteous and positive manner.
• Actively participate in activities designed to improve the school lunch program.
• Perform other duties reasonably related to the Food Services function as assigned by the Head Cook, Principal and/or Food Service Director.

Job Summary:

Assist with the preparation, serving and cleanup of the school breakfast and/or lunch program. Create an environment that produces a satisfying school experience as well as a professional image of the school while providing a well-balanced student breakfast and lunch program.
