Job summary

Springfield Public Schools is seeking a qualified Adapted Physical Education educator to identify students needing services, conduct screenings and develop IEPs, and deliver direct and consultative services. The role requires a degree in Physical Education and relevant licensure, with experience in special needs education and strong organizational skills.

  • Bilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify students who require Adapted Physical Education in the Springfield Public Schools.
  • Screen, assess, and develop assessment reports and IEPs for children qualifying for adapted P.E.
  • Provide direct and consult adapted physical education services to students with IEPs.
  • Timely completion of all paperwork, including IEPs, team meetings, progress reports, billing/logging, and departmental paperwork.

Job description

Duties
  • Identification of children who require Adapted Physical Education in the Springfield Public Schools.

  • Timely completion of all paperwork, including but not limited to documentation required for IEPs, team meetings, progress reports, billing/logging, and departmental paperwork.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Physical Education. DESE license Adapted Physical Education preferred; DESE license in Physical Education.
  • A minimum of five years of teaching experience.
  • Experience working with children with special needs preferred.
  • Experience in assessment and development of high quality Individualized Educational Plans preferred. Demonstrated ability to meet timelines. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
