Job summary

Springfield Public Schools is seeking an Adapted Physical Education teacher to identify students needing services, conduct assessments, and develop IEPs. The role includes direct and consultative PE services and timely completion of IEPs, progress reports, and billing paperwork.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Physical Education with DESE licensure in PE or Adapted PE preferred, plus at least five years of teaching experience, especially with children with special needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Physical Education required or equivalent.
  • DESE licensure in Adapted Physical Education preferred; DESE licensure in Physical Education required.
  • Minimum five years of teaching experience.
  • Experience with children with special needs preferred; strong assessment and IEP development experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet timelines and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify children who require Adapted Physical Education in Springfield Public Schools.
  • Screen, assess, and develop assessment reports and IEPs for eligible children.
  • Provide direct and consultative Adapted Physical Education services to students with IEPs.
  • Complete all required paperwork promptly (IEPs, meetings, progress reports, billing, and department records).

Job description
