Position Overview

Blue Sky Innovators is seeking a mid‑level Anti‑Tamper (AT) Subject Matter Expert to support the Anti‑Tamper Executive Agent (DoD ATEA) within SAF/AQL.

This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong policy background who can operate at the intersection of strategy, policy, and engineering. The successful candidate will help shape and refine Anti‑Tamper policy while maintaining a working understanding of the technologies those policies govern.

You will serve as a critical translator between the engineering and policy communities, ensuring that DoD Anti‑Tamper guidance is both technically informed and operationally executable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development, review, and refinement of Anti‑Tamper policies, guidance, and frameworks
  • Translate technical Anti‑Tamper concepts and system implementations into clear, actionable policy and strategic guidance
  • Analyze current and emerging Anti‑Tamper technologies to inform policy decisions and updates
  • Provide policy recommendations to the ATEA and SAF/AQL leadership on program protection and technology safeguarding
  • Coordinate with engineers, program offices, Anti‑Tamper Service Leads (ATSLs), and senior stakeholders to ensure policy alignment with real‑world implementation
  • Assist in preparing briefings, decision papers, and executive‑level communications
  • Participate in Anti‑Tamper Steering Groups (ATSGs), working groups, and cross‑functional forums
  • Support integration of policy updates with ongoing acquisition and program protection efforts
What You’ll Bring
  • Ability to bridge the gap between policy and engineering, translating complex technical ideas into strategic direction
  • Strong understanding of how policy is developed, staffed, and implemented at the Pentagon level
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn and grow within the Anti‑Tamper domain
Basic Qualifications
  • Active TS clearance (SCI eligibility required)
  • Experience as a staff officer or equivalent headquarters‑level role
  • Strong background in policy development, staffing, and coordination within the DoW
  • Familiarity with DoW acquisition and program protection processes
  • Ability to work 100% on‑site at the Pentagon
  • Understanding of new USAF Acquisition Reform and Exportability with regard to Anti‑Tamper
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with Anti‑Tamper, Program Protection, Export Controls, or Critical Program Information (CPI)
  • Exposure to advanced defense systems or systems engineering concepts
  • Experience supporting SAF/AQL or similar Air Force acquisition organizations
  • Proven ability to engage with senior leaders and cross‑functional teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in executive‑level messaging
Why This Role Matters

As Anti‑Tamper challenges grow more complex, the DoW needs professionals who can connect policy to reality. Your work will ensure that Anti‑Tamper guidance is not only strategically sound, but also grounded in the technologies and threats shaping today’s battlespace.
