Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Telecom Cable Plant Engineer to join the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) team supporting the USAP. You will design and document cable plant (ISP/OSP) and manage the Cable Management System, ensuring data accuracy and SOPs. Deployment to Antarctica is required 12–16 weeks per year.

US Citizenship and must obtain a Public Trust clearance prior to start date. Location includes McMurdo, South Pole, Palmer and logistics hubs in CAL, NZ, and Chile.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering or related field; 5+ years of telecom experience.
• 2+ years telecom design/engineering and 1+ year data management experience.
• Cable Management database systems and telecom wiring standards knowledge.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with computers and software used in modern telecom facilities.
• Familiarity with telecom test equipment (OTDRs) and copper cabling.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Independent work ethic and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all ASC and USAP safety standards are met in work areas.
• Design, engineer, and implement telecom systems to meet enterprise requirements.
• Manage USAP Cable Management System: Patch Manager.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot telecom system issues.
• Survey ISP and OSP cable for inclusion in the Cable Management System.
• Input data into the Cable Management System and validate accuracy.
• Update telecom infrastructure records from projects and operations.
• Provide Cable Management System training to staff and customers.
• Develop workflows and SOPs for Cable Management System.
• Stay current with telecom technology and recommend upgrades.
• Prepare technical documentation of telecom systems.
