Job summary

Leidos seeks a Telecom Cable Plant Engineer to join the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) team supporting USAP. You will design and document all cable plant (ISP/OSP) and manage Cable Management System data for the USAP enterprise.

You will design upgrades, coordinate data gathering, and ensure data quality in the Cable Management System. The role involves deployment to Antarctica for ~12–16 weeks per year, with US citizenship and required Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

• Issue requires a BS degree and 5+ years in telecommunications.
• 2+ years telecom design/engineering and 1+ year data management experience.
• Cable Management databases, telecom wiring standards, and installation.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficient with telecom test equipment (OTDRs, copper testers).
• Able to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Independent and team-oriented work style.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Ensure ASC and USAP safety standards.
• Design, engineer, and implement telecom systems.
• Manage Cable Management System: Patch Manager.
• Survey ISP/OSP cable for CM System inclusion.
• Input data into USAP enterprise CM System.
• Coordinate updates from projects and operations.
• Provide CM System training to staff and customers.
• Develop CM System workflows and SOPs.
• Stay updated with telecom advancements and recommend upgrades.
• Prepare technical documentation of telecom systems.
