Job summary

The Bushnell in Hartford, CT is seeking an Annual Gifts Officer. You will lead donor cultivation and stewardship for the Annual Fund, managing a portfolio of about 120 households and collaborating with the Major Gifts Officer to meet annual goals.

The role requires a passion for the performing arts and strong fundraising acumen. This full-time position offers a 37.5-hour week, with some evenings and weekends, plus comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and a retirement plan.

Qualifications

• College degree and 3-5 years of fundraising experience.
• Ability to personally solicit gifts of $2,500+.
• Passion for performing arts and community impact.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with confidentiality.
• Motivation, confidence, and independent judgment.
• Initiative and self-starting qualities.
• Understand and communicate annual giving goals.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Negotiating, organizational, analytical, and fundraising skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with computers and office software.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Development and senior staff to reach fundraising goals.
• Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership annual gifts.
• Manage portfolio of approximately 120 households.
• Develop individualized cultivation and stewardship strategies to grow gifts.
• Conduct 10-15 donor prospects and contacts per month, in person or virtually.
• Research wealth indicators to identify new donor prospects.
• Prepare donor briefs and research materials.
• Enter contact reports within one week of interactions.
• Support events and campaigns to deepen donor engagement.
