Job summary

Steel Technologies in Missouri is seeking an Annealing Operator to monitor the annealing operation, program equipment, and forecast production schedules.

You will load and unload material with an overhead crane, adjust heating and cooling, take samples, and verify hardness, camber and surface conditions to maintain quality.

Qualifications

  • Ability to use tape measures, Rockwell tester, micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements.
  • Ability to operate equipment programmers and forecast production schedules.
  • Ability to prioritize, schedule, and project production schedules.
  • Knowledge of forklift and crane training/certification.

Responsibilities

  • Program equipment based on production orders and procedures.
  • Load, unload, and stack material with an overhead crane.
  • Monitor annealing operation and adjust heating and cooling units.
  • Cut samples per production instructions and standard practice.
  • Verify hardness, camber and surface conditions before/after heat treatment.
  • Move material to next process area using forklift or crane.
  • Assist maintenance to troubleshoot or perform preventative maintenance.
  • Report non-compliance or quality problems to supervisor.
  • Maintain housekeeping in the annealing building.

Job description

As an Annealing Operator your main responsibility will be to monitor the annealing operation. You should be comfortable with equipment programing and forecasting production schedules. How you’ll contribute to our company:

  • Program equipment based on production orders and programming procedures
  • Load, unload, and stack material inside the heating chamber using an overhead crane
  • Monitor annealing operation and adjust heating and cooling units as required
  • Cut any required samples based on production instructions and standard practice
  • Maintain production and quality standards by measuring and verifying hardness, camber and surface conditions before and after heat treatment
  • Identify and move material to next process area using forklift and/or overhead crane
  • Assist maintenance to troubleshoot malfunctions or complete preventative maintenance as necessary
  • Communicate non-compliance or quality problems to supervisor and/or shift lead
  • Clean and maintain housekeeping of annealing building

Here’s what is needed to be successful:

  • Ability to use tape measures, Rockwell tester, micrometers and calipers
  • Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
  • Ability to operate equipment programmers
  • Ability to prioritize, schedule, and project production schedules
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with all Forklift and Crane training/certification
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
