Job summary

The Animal Welfare, Project Manager position at Texas A&M University System Offices in Dallas supports research animal welfare and excellence across the system. You will develop and deliver training on the 3Rs, NAMs, and related concepts, and coordinate across system members to strengthen animal welfare program implementation and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct projects and programs aimed at research animal welfare and research excellence, contributing to an overall strategic research infrastructure.
  • Develop and deliver training content on animal welfare and related research concepts including, but not limited to, the 3Rs, advanced human-relevant technologies, and novel alternative methodologies (NAMs).
  • Proactively network across members and the broader research community to build awareness of research animal welfare; Assist members with establishing standard operating procedures and other activities that enhance research animal welfare.
  • Consult with researchers on the 3Rs, human-relevant model systems, and novel alternative methodologies, providing support for investigator grants.
  • Support member accreditation with AAALAC, International.
  • Conduct related research, seeking state, federal, and other funding opportunities to advance research animal welfare.
  • Promote the work by the Texas A&M University System members in the area of animal research and novel alternative methodologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in an animal welfare related field
  • Prior grant funding for research
  • Knowledge of advanced human-relevant technologies and/or novel alternative methodologies
