Qualifications

• High school diploma or satisfactory GED.
• Two years in a public or non-profit animal services program with customer service, intake and outcomes experience.
• One year of Animal Services Counselor experience or equivalent.
• Valid California Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, assign, train, and supervise Animal Services staff including assisting customers seeking to adopt.
• Oversee animal intakes and outcomes; coordinate spay/neutering for outreach adoptions; transport animals to outreach events.
• Interview and select new employees; prepare and review evaluations; counsel staff and handle disciplinary actions.
• Plan training programs for staff; conduct courses and evaluate effectiveness.
• Assist with planning and development of Animal Services programs, policies, and goals.
• Suggest changes to programs; assist with annual budget development and justifications.
• Serve as Animal Services Chief in temporary absence; interpret ordinances and policies to staff and public.
• Promote animal services through community relations; coordinate educational programs and maintain statistics.
• Prepare reports; review staff materials; attend supervisory meetings; inspect equipment and vehicles.
