Job summary

The City of Oxnard is seeking an Extra Help Animal Safety Officer for the Police Department. This role focuses on enforcing animal licensing laws, humane care, and community safety while on patrol.

You will rescue animals, investigate cruelty, respond to calls about dead animals, educate the public, provide testimony in court, and document incidents. This is an at-will, temporary position with no standard benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one year of customer service experience.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid class C California driver's license.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Rescuing trapped animals.
• Investigating cases of animal cruelty.
• Responding to calls for service reference dead animals.
• Educating the public with animal safety rules and regulations.
• Providing expert testimony in court cases.
