University of Florida is seeking a Laboratory Technician III to support the Bortolato Lab at the College of Pharmacy. The role focuses on stereotaxic surgeries in mice and rats, colony maintenance, and lab management tasks within a rigorous, data-driven environment.

Candidates should have an Associate’s degree with related experience, or a HS diploma with more years in similar work; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent with 4 years of related experience, or HS diploma with 6 years related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant area is preferred.
  • Experience with stereotaxic surgery is desirable.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with animals and handle laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform stereotaxic surgeries on mice and rats and provide post-surgery care.
  • Manage rodent colony operations including breeding, weaning, and genotyping.
  • Maintain records and ensure compliance with IACUC requirements.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting animal protocols and modifications.
  • Support lab management tasks and ensure high ethical standards.
