Job summary

San Diego Humane Society is hiring a full-time Humane Field Technician to support the Humane Law Enforcement team. You will respond to priority field calls, transport animals, and work with medical and wildlife teams to ensure animal welfare.

Based at our San Diego Campus, this non-sworn role features a 4/10 schedule, competitive hourly pay with bilingual-Spanish premium, and a strong benefits package including a 403(b) plan and free pet adoptions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months of experience working with animals in a kennel, shelter, veterinary hospital or similar environment preferred.
• Experience in customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly and efficiently to priority calls in the field for animals reported as sick, injured, or aggressive.
• Assess situations and work with Humane law Enforcement Officers when enforcement is needed.
• Humanely handle, capture, restrain, confine and transport domestic and wild animals using proper humane equipment and techniques.
• Communicate with internal teams about status of animals and ensure documentation and record-keeping.
• Transport animals from partner veterinary offices and maintain cleanliness of transport areas and vehicles.
• Educate the public about responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.
