Job summary

The City and County of Denver is seeking an Animal Protection Field Supervisor to lead Denver Animal Protection, ensuring the welfare of animals and safety of residents. This role focuses on enforcing municipal animal-related laws and guiding daily operations at the Denver Animal Shelter.

You will supervise staff, conduct inspections, train the public, testify in court, and participate in budget planning and emergency preparedness. On-site at the Denver Animal Shelter with on-call flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Provides day-to-day leadership and enforces animal care laws and welfare.
• Plans, assigns, and evaluates the work of animal protection staff.
• Trains staff on local and regional laws and ordinances; testifies in court.
• Supervises the issuance of legal summonses and testifies on cases of cruelty or neglect.
• Maintains detailed daily reports and records that comply with standards.
• Implements safety standards and ensures compliance.
• Develops work plans and priorities; manages workflow.
• Distributes work and reviews for accuracy and completeness.
• Addresses grievances and provides written responses as needed.
• Performs humane euthanasia when required and operates vehicle/communications gear.
