Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health's Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI) is seeking a Manager, Animal Facility to oversee daily operations of the Laboratory Animal Facility at the CDI. You will supervise the animal care team, ensure compliance with federal and accreditation standards, and develop SOPs for biohazards in the facility.

Required: bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience, with FBI background check and regulatory approvals for BSL3 facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• FBI background check and other regulatory approvals for admittance to BSL3 facilities and/or select agent facilities.
• CMAR certification preferred; must be completed by 18 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the supervision and performance standards of all animals care team members.
• Ensures compliance with federal, accreditation and industry standards for the laboratory animal/basic research program.
• Develops Standard Operating Procedures for the use of biohazards within the animal facility.
• Establishes and oversees service contracts on specialized equipment and approves invoices.
• Ensures daily SOP compliance across administration, husbandry, safety, colony maintenance, animal health and equipment operation.
• Assists in training programs for department staff and researchers on laws, regulations and safety.
