Job summary

Tompsc is seeking an Animal Control Officer to perform routine and specialized community service duties, controlling animals and protecting lives in Mount Pleasant. Responsibilities include responding to complaints, issuing citations, and providing public education on animal care.

Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and one year of experience with animal care. Candidates must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license and be eligible for Animal CPR certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Preferred one year of experience involving the care of animals.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Receive and respond to animal complaints.
• Perform administrative duties including incident reports.
• Testify in court when necessary.
• Patrol for stray animals and issue citations.

Skills

Knowledge of animal control practices and techniques

Skill in oral and written communication

Ability to handle duties under stressful conditions

Knowledge of laws and ordinances

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Eligible for Animal CPR certification
