Sacbar in Long Beach, CA is seeking an Animal Control Officer I to enforce state, county and city animal control codes, and oversee the care, impounding, quarantine, licensing and vaccination of a variety of animals.

Qualifications include six months of full-time experience at the Animal Care Attendant I level in an animal regulatory agency, plus certification per Penal Code 832 within six months. A valid CA Class C license is required; Class B may be needed.

Qualifications

Six months of full-time paid experience at the level of Animal Care Attendant I in an animal regulatory agency.
Certification indicating successful completion of a department-sponsored training program per California Penal Code Section 832 is required within six months of appointment.
A valid California Class C Driver License; and a valid California Class B Driver License may be required.
Out-of-class work experience in the service of the County of Los Angeles will not be accepted for this examination.

Responsibilities

Enforce State, County and City codes and ordinances governing animal control, including care and treatment, impounding, quarantine, licensing and vaccination of animals.
Support the maintenance and operation of the animal shelter and related facilities, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
