  • Complete administrative duties including purchase orders, contracts, bids, and veterinary services.

Job description

  • Investigate animal control complaints and resolve issues while patrolling an assigned area of the city using a city vehicle
  • Capture and relocate wildlife
  • Capture stray or dangerous animals
  • Remove and dispose of dead animals in and around roadways or other public areas
  • Investigate animal abuse or neglect complaints
  • Issue warnings, citations, and court summons to violators of animal control regulations
  • Maintain detailed records of daily operations
  • Patrol assigned areas, capture at-large animals, transport animals, and complete documentation for safe handling, transportation, and impounding
  • Respond to citizen complaints and conduct enforcement activities related to animal control ordinances and regulations
  • Communicate with and educate the public to resolve or prevent animal control issues
  • Complete administrative duties including purchase orders, contract bids, bills, and veterinary services
  • Complete daily activity logs documenting areas or addresses visited, timeframes, and relevant notes
  • Dispose of deceased animals properly
  • Promote preventative animal control measures such as spaying/neutering and fencing
  • Collect owner-surrendered animals by verifying ownership, collecting fees, completing documentation, and transporting animals
Requirements

  • Ability to occasionally lift items or objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Physical ability to restrain or capture stray or dangerous animals and wildlife
  • Ability to work in weather conditions including extreme hot or cold temperatures
  • Ability to work around potentially hazardous conditions such as dangerous animals or wildlife
