Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a dedicated animal cruelty investigator in Washington state. You will respond to cruelty cases, conduct undercover investigations, prepare reports for law enforcement and prosecutors, and provide testimony at trials.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Respond to animal cruelty cases, including undercover investigations, investigative research, and assisting law enforcement
  • Compile professional Investigator’s Reports for cases involving law enforcement and prosecutors
  • Provide testimony when cases go to trial
  • Manage and organize all assigned cases and ensure investigations are complete
  • Input data and maintain accurate records in the Investigations & Rescue database
  • Transfer photos and video from devices into case files
  • Collaborate with the Investigations & Rescue Manager, sanctuary staff, clinic staff, and other teams
  • Answer, log, and route incoming cruelty calls and emails
  • Monitor the cruelty cell phone while on duty and the emergency cell phone when on call
  • Build partnerships with statewide law enforcement agencies and veterinary offices
  • Assist with law enforcement training opportunities
  • Correspond professionally with prosecutors, law enforcement, public officials, media, and the public
  • Support Communications, Development, and Outreach departments with case materials and documentation
  • Expand partnerships with animal rescue organizations and veterinarians
  • Create and manage special programs with the Investigations & Rescue Manager
  • Maintain knowledge of Washington State animal control laws
  • Participate in legislative events, general events, and fundraising activities as needed
  • Maintain case confidentiality
