Job summary

Provo City is seeking a full-time Animal Control Officer to enforce animal control codes and protect residents and animals. You will investigate complaints, issue citations and licenses, and testify in court when required.

Responsibilities include patrolling the city, handling animal impounds, and coordinating with law enforcement as needed. This role requires a valid driver’s license and relevant certificates within 1 year of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of experience in animal handling or care.
• Valid, lawful driver's license is required.
• UACOA tranquilizer gun, euthanasia, and wildlife handling certificates must be obtained within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Respond to citizen complaints and reports about animals and cruelty.
• Intercede in conflicts about animals and investigate violations.
• Issue warnings, citations, summons, and licenses.
• Prepare and present reports and testify in court as needed.
• Patrol Provo City in a marked vehicle to protect residents and animals.
• Collect or impound animals as required and handle containment tools.
