Job summary

JBS USA in Lamar, Colorado is seeking an Animal Care Technician to learn and support daily farm operations and provide essential care to pigs. You will work with a cohesive team, helping with farrowing, feeding, vaccination, and welfare standards while following strict biosecurity procedures.

This entry-level role requires a BS in Animal Science or equivalent, plus basic MS Office knowledge; a valid driver's license is needed.

Qualifications

• A B.S. degree in Animal Science or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of MS Office including MS Excel is helpful.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Working knowledge of sow farm management, swine welfare standards, biosecurity and health management, safety and environment.
• Previous animal care experience preferred but not required.
• Be a team oriented, self-motivated and positive individual with strong work ethic.
• Work weekend and holiday hours as required on a rotational basis.

• Basic sow/gilt handling: feeding/watering/moving.
• Operating machinery and equipment.

• Handling and using chemicals.
• Vaccinating and medicating sows and piglets.
• Cleaning, afterbirth, dead pigs, scraping.
• Ability to use computer equipment: hand held devices and electronic wands.
• Loading and unloading pigs as scheduled.
• Maintaining farm cleanliness.
• Adhere to all biosecurity standards including showering in and out of facilities.
