Actalent is seeking an Animal Care Technician in Birmingham, AL to support preclinical research by providing high-quality animal care and executing study procedures in an ABSL-2/ABSL-3 lab. You will work with multiple species and collaborate with scientific and veterinary teams to ensure studies run safely and efficiently.

The role requires handling various species, following GLP/SOPs, and collecting data while maintaining strict safety protocols and PPE usage.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent education.
• 3 years of animal handling experience in a laboratory setting.
• Experience with multiple species (rodents, non-human primates, dogs, etc.).
• Ability to follow SOPs and GLP requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and data documentation.
• Able to wear PPE including N95 or PAPRs for extended periods.

Responsabilités

• Observe activities per study protocols, SOPs, GLP, and safety practices.
• Contribute to proper study execution with understanding of study design.
• Perform key study activities following procedures and timelines.
• Administer test materials to animals via various routes.
• Collect samples and specimens for endpoints and analyses.
• Provide daily animal care and husbandry and monitor wellbeing.
• Clean cages, equipment, and work areas; decontaminate rooms.
• Collect in-life and husbandry data (weights, observations, etc.).
• Handle and restrain animals under biosafety containment procedures.
