Job summary

Macomb County Government seeks a Kennel Attendant to support the Animal Control facility through direct animal care, medical assistance, and cleanliness. You will monitor behavior, administer treatments, perform routine lab checks, and maintain comprehensive records.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to work four 10-hour shifts (starting at 7:00 a.m.), and effective communication with the public and staff. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage from day one.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in animal care preferred.
• Euthanasia certification within probationary period is required.

Responsibilities

• Care for animals at the facility and monitor health.
• Perform kennel cleaning and maintain a sterile environment.
• Administer medications and vaccines as prescribed.
• Record test results and maintain animal records.
• Counsel adopters and educate the public on animal care.
• Handle intake and release of animals and general clerical duties.
