Job summary

Macomb County Government is seeking a Kennel Attendant to care for animals in the Animal Control facility. You will perform kennel cleaning, administer medications and vaccines, and assist with behavioral monitoring to ensure welfare of all animals.

The role requires high school completion, with preferred associates in animal care; euthanasia certification within probation, and valid driver’s license. Overtime and 40-hour weeks are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience caring for animals preferred.
• Must obtain euthanasia certification within probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Care for all animals in the facility.
• Daily kennel and cage cleaning per disease-control protocols.
• Administer medications, vaccines and treatments as prescribed by veterinarian.
• Record lab results and monitor animals after surgeries.
• Counsel adopters and educate the public on proper animal care.
