Job summary

Charles River Laboratories, Inc. is seeking an Animal Care Technician I to support the care and housing of laboratory animals in our Horsham, PA facility.

The role focuses on maintaining clean rooms, feeding and monitoring animals, recording data, and following GLPs and SOPs to ensure compliance and animal welfare. Responsibilities include daily room cleaning, water and feed management, data entry, and assisting senior staff with study protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Animal handling in a veterinary, commercial, or industry setting preferred.
• Must be able to maintain accurate data records in GLP-compliant environments.
• ALAT, LAT, or LATG certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Change room filters and clean behind vents.
• Clean laboratory animal rooms and housing per schedule; care for cages, waste, water bottles, and feeders.
• Feed and water laboratory animals; monitor consumption.
• Assist in handling and grooming, weighing, and receiving animals.
• Monitor chlorine levels, airflow, and water pressure; observe animal health.
• Receive, store, and distribute supplies; report low inventory.
• Record study data and husbandry data in electronic databases.
• Review protocols to ensure proper husbandry and environmental parameters.
• Follow GLPs, SOPs, study protocols, and company policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
