Location:

Taconic Biosciences is seeking Animal Care Technicians to join our dedicated operations team at the Seattle, WA site. Our animal care team is passionate about the Taconic mission, collaborative, energetic, and positive.

The Starting Pay:

$23.10 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.

The Work Schedule:

Shifts starting as early as 5:00am, Monday - Friday. Rotating weekends will be required once trained, with a pay differential included.

Number of Positions Open:

Hiring 2 positions with start dates beginning in June. If you cannot begin immediately but are interested in a future hire date, let us know!

The Role:

Animal Care Technicians start as Trainees, participating in comprehensive training to master Taconic's protocols. Progression from Technician levels 1 to 3 is based on skills and behaviors, with opportunities for senior positions. Regular check-ins support your growth.

Your role involves caring for rats and/or mice, adhering to SOPs, regulatory standards, and client specifications, contributing to research efforts to develop cures for diseases.

Your Core Responsibilities as an Animal Care Technician 1:
  • Ensure high standards of animal welfare.
  • Report inhumane treatment or abuse.
  • Perform husbandry tasks: feeding, watering, housing per SOP.
  • Monitor environmental conditions and report issues.
  • Maintain cleanliness and accurate documentation.
  • Follow dress and health procedures.
  • Manage breeding, weight, and production studies.
  • Handle sample collection and inventory management.
  • Escalate issues as needed.
Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred laboratory animal handling experience.
  • Strong attendance and adherence to SOPs.
  • Team-oriented, enthusiastic, safety-conscious.
Additional Skills:
  • Organized, detail-oriented.
  • Flexible and responsive to work demands.
  • Effective communicator and team collaborator.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Includes climbing, crouching, lifting up to 50 pounds, exposure to chemicals, machinery, temperature extremes, and noise. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities.
