The position requires strong leadership, animal care knowledge, and ability to coordinate with staff and volunteers in a busy shelter environment. Afternoon and weekend work may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of methods of caring for animals.
• Knowledge of disease management, recognition, control, and prevention.
• Knowledge of basic cleaning and disinfectant procedures.
• Knowledge of and ability to assist in medical evaluations and animal health.
• Knowledge of shelter policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead Animal Intake/Care or Animal Facility Cleaning Technicians by assigning and reviewing work and training new staff.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary shelter environment at all times.
• Ensure animals are cared for according to shelter guidelines.
• Assist in evaluating animals at intake and daily re-evaluations for illness or disease.
• Manage animal placement/flow and behavior evaluation programs.
• Ensure services align with the department's mission and goals.
