Job summary

Schwartz Farms, Inc. seeks an Animal Care Specialist to join a family-centered team in supporting breeding, farrowing, or wean-finish operations. The role includes scheduled shifts and weekend rotations, with a focus on animal welfare and safety.

You will collaborate with managers to maintain animal wellbeing, uphold bio-security policies, and contribute to continuous improvement across farm teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for animals, ensuring they have access to food, water and a comfortable environment
• Assist with movement of animals
• Treat and vaccinate animals
• Maintain accurate documentation
• Assist in power washing
• Promote a safe work environment
• Maintain PQA certification status (provided on the job)
• Follow all SFI bio-security policies and procedures
• Exhibit strong teamwork, including working to achieve team goals, embracing new technologies, working on new projects, etc.
• Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodation
• Availability Weekdays Preferred Monday, Tuesdays, Thursday & Fridays

POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE:

The Animal Care Specialist is responsible for providing support to breeding, farrowing or wean-finish teams. Work with your manager on establishing a schedule and weekend rotations will be included.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Tasks are dependent upon the department, but may include:

• Provide care for animals, ensuring they have access to food, water and a comfortable environment
• Assist with m movement of animals
• Treat and vaccinate animals
• Maintain accurate documentation
• Assist in power washing
• Promote a safe work environment
• Maintain PQA certification status (provided on the job)
• Follow all SFI bio-security policies and procedures
• Exhibit strong teamwork, including working to achieve team goals, embracing new technologies, working on new projects, etc.
