Job summary

Humane Society Silicon Valley is seeking an Animal Care and Enrichment Technician to support daily animal welfare activities in a busy shelter environment. This role focuses on maintaining clean, safe spaces, providing enrichment, and assisting with intake, housing, and transport of animals.

The position offers 0–40 hours per week with flexible scheduling, including weekends and evenings, and requires compassionate care for dogs, cats, and small mammals.

Qualifications

• Experience caring for animals; shelter or kennel setting preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public, volunteers, and staff.
• Willingness to perform extensive cleaning tasks daily.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Familiarity with computer database applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning of animal spaces to shelter standards.
• Monitor health and behavior of animals and adjust care as needed.
• Provide enrichment activities for animals.
• Assist in housing and transport of animals from intake and to the care area.
• Complete paperwork and data entry for animals and activities.
• May assist with humane euthanasia following best practices and safety protocols.
• Other duties as needed.
