Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a facility technician to operate and sanitize animal cage washers and bulk autoclaves, stock bedding and water bottles, and maintain supply areas in accordance with SOPs and safety guidelines.

The role requires weekend work, lifting up to 42 lbs, compliance with PPE and health and safety programs, and contributing to the university's commitment to high-quality animal care and research support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with sanitation and safety practices preferred.
• Ability to follow SOPs and maintain clean, safe workspaces.

Responsibilities

• Operate cage washers and autoclaves per SOPs and report equipment problems.
• Fill bedding and water bottles in cages with proper materials.
• Perform regular maintenance and QA testing of wash equipment.
• Transport cages, equipment, and supplies within animal facilities.
• Clean and maintain cage wash areas and related service spaces.
• Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
