Position description

The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, University of California, Davis, is recruiting for one full-time Anesthesiology Clinical Researcher/Professor as an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the Regular Professor series.

The successful candidate will be allocated 50% of time exclusively to research. Ideal candidates should have a demonstrated history of securing funding and will work in collaboration with the department Chair for the mentorship and the development of junior faculty. The ideal candidates should have a background in basic science or neuroscience, are mid-career, and actively engaged in outcomes-based research.

Research responsibilities include conducting high-quality, innovative research within the field of anesthesiology. The successful candidate will demonstrate continuous leadership and significant scholarly contributions. While the focus of this position is research, leadership in grant acquisition, publication, and scholarly impact is essential. The candidate is expected to lead research programs or sub-programs, develop new research projects, and contribute to the writing of grant proposals and publications. The department includes clinical research coordinators (CRCs) who assist with IRB submissions, consent acquisition, and data analysis. Support for grant writing, staffing, and funding will be assessed on an individual basis.

Additional responsibilities include clinical education of medical students, residents and fellows. The successful candidate is expected to provide service to department, school and campus committees. Additional expectations include ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment, and ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.

Rank and Salary are commensurate with experience. Additional inquiries may be directed to Ruben Jimenez at 916-734-7985 or Kristin Britton-Isaacson at 916-734-5032. The University of California, Davis is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer with a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of diversity among its faculty, staff, and students. This position has limited time funding.

Candidate is required to upload a CV, cover letter including a statement of research, clinical interests and teaching, statement of contributions to diversity, Authorization to Release Information form, and the names and contact information of 3-5 references. For full position description and to apply, https://recruit.ucdavis.edu/JPF06813.

The reference check involves contacting administration of the applicant’s previous institution(s) to ask whether there have been substantial findings of misconduct that would violate the University’s Faculty Code of Conduct. To implement this process, UC Davis requires all applicants for any open search for assistant professor to complete, sign, and upload the form entitled "Authorization to Release Information" into Recruit as part of their application. If the candidate does not include the signed authorization with the application materials, the application will be considered incomplete, and as with any incomplete application, will not receive further consideration.
