Job summary
Veterans Health Administration’s Columbia VA Health Care System seeks an experienced physician in anesthesiology to provide comprehensive anesthesia care across surgical services. The role includes pre-operative assessment, intraoperative management, and postoperative recovery oversight, with collaboration among multidisciplinary teams.
On-call duties and participation in professional development are expected.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent in allopathic/osteopathic medicine.
- Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States.
- Board certification or eligibility in anesthesiology per training.
- Residency training approved by VA/ACGME/AOA.
- Licensure and residency requirements as described by VA qualification standards.
Responsibilities
- Assess and prepare patients for anesthesia, including pre-operative evaluation.
- Provide anesthesia care during surgical and medical procedures with CRNA support.
- Monitor anesthesia and patient vital functions throughout perioperative care.
- Manage perioperative pain control and recovery with appropriate modalities.
- Participate in on-call coverage and collaborate with anesthesia team and surgical staff.
