Job summary

Spectrum Healthcare Resources seeks a Pain Management Physician for the Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington, WV. The role combines in-person visits with telehealth within an interprofessional pain care team utilizing the Biopsychosocial Model of Pain Care.

The physician will manage chronic pain medications, monitor opioid regimens per VA guidelines, and perform interventional procedures with fluoroscopy/ultrasound guidance.

Qualifications

• Board eligible or board-certified in Pain Medicine with ABA certification.
• Active medical license in any state.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide medication management for chronic pain, focusing on polypharmacy reduction and opioid risk stratification.
• Adjust opioid therapies in line with VA/DoD guidelines and local policies.
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostics to optimize the pain care plan and follow up per VHA standards.
• Collaborate with nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other interprofessional team members.
• Perform interventional pain procedures using fluoroscopy and ultrasound guidance (e.g., injections, blocks, ablations).

Job description

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a civilian Pain Management Physician at the Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington West Virginia.

Services shall be provided on site, at the Hershel “Woody” Williams VAMC, 1540 Spring Valley Drive, Huntington, WV 25704, and Charleston VA Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) 700 Technology Drive, South Charleston, WV 25309.

Job Description

• Full Time
• Services will be offered through a combination of in-person visits and virtual / telehealth appointments, in the outpatient and inpatient setting, within an interprofessional specialty care team that utilizes the Biopsychosocial Model of Pain Care and the VA Stepped Care Model of Pain Management.

Clinical Duties

• Provide medication management for chronic pain conditions, focusing on polypharmacy reduction, opioid risk stratification, and utilizing non-opioid analgesics and adjuvant medications.
• Manage opioid medications and perform opioid medication adjustments including tapers as indicated and in compliance with current VA/DOD Long-term Opioid Therapy Clinical Practice Guidelines, and local VA policies.
• Orders, performs, reviews, and analyzes appropriate laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic studies necessary to optimize the pain care plan. Follows up with Veterans regarding results per VHA standards to discuss care plans, changes to Therapy, And Additional Monitoring Or Testing Requirements.
• Provide clinical collaboration with nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Perform interventional pain care, including fluoroscopy and ultrasound-guided invasive procedures (e.g., epidural steroid injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablations, joint injections, spinal cord stimulator trials, intrathecal baclofen trials, intrathecal pump).

Job Requirements

• Board Certified /Board Eligible in Pain Medicine or have demonstrable experience in pain management and opioid prescribing, have experience in providing scope of care as described herein and be currently certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA)
• Any state License is accepted
• Active BLS and ACLS thru the American Heart Association.
