Job summary

The Ohio State University University Hospital is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to support the UH Perioperative team. You will set up, inspect, and calibrate anesthesia equipment, and coordinate auto transfusion and related services for surgical procedures.

The role focuses on safety, equipment reliability, and collaboration with nurses, physicians and staff. Regular day shifts with potential on-call duties are described in the posting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 3 months patient care experience or equivalent.
• 3 months experience with medical equipment or equivalent.
• Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cert. A.T.) preferred but not required.
• Experience in anesthesia equipment management preferred.

Provides diagnostic and treatment services during regular recurring critical care situations: set up, check, inspect, maintain and calibrate a variety of anesthesia equipment. Performs various anesthesia specialized treatment procedures that will significantly affect the accuracy and reliability of further processes associated with the anesthetic course of the patient. The team reflects a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team consisting of registered nurses, surgical technologist, anesthesiologist, CRNAs, and surgeon provides patient care and supportive services that are directed toward achievement of patient care outcomes, improving service levels, reducing length of hospitalization and decreasing costs. Additionally, the Anesthesia Technician is responsible for coordinating Anesthesia and Auto transfusion services, including technical and logistical support to the physicians and hospital staff for surgical procedures. The Anesthesia Technician will follow all standards regarding safety of all patients, staff and self. In addition, all work areas are to be stocked according to levels, clean and organized. The Anesthesia Technician is also responsible for demonstrating a positive, collaborative attitude, and being respectful to all patients, family and staff.**Minimum Qualifications**Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be willing and able to take on call and work varying shifts.Per Classified Civil Service Requirements. High school graduate or possess a G.E.D., 3 months patient care experience or equivalent; 3 months experience working with medical equipment or equivalent. A Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cert. A.T.) is preferred but not required. Experience in anesthesia equipment management preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals preferred. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence preferred.
