Job summary

Driscoll Children’s Hospital is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to assist the Anesthesiologist before, during, and after surgeries in the OR. The role involves handling delicate anesthesia equipment, preparing supplies, and ensuring readiness for emergencies.

Under direct supervision of the Anesthesiologist and OR Manager, you will set up IV lines aseptically, stock carts, maintain equipment, and help transport patients while adhering to hospital policies and core values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months to one year related experience or training.
• Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Anesthesiologist in the Operating Room.
• Prepare, monitor and maintain delicate anesthesia equipment.
• Set up IV lines for anesthesia needs using aseptic technique.
• Stock the anesthesia carts with medications and supplies.
• Maintain off-site equipment and carts, ensuring readiness at all times.
• Support safe transportation of patients and participate in departmental PI and CQI meetings.

Other responsibilities include handling delicate anesthesia equipment, and ensuring correct supplies, equipment are prepared in case of an emergency. This person must use appropriate judgment in selecting supplies for each case based on size of patient and the typeof anesthesia being given. Direct supervision is provided by the Anesthesiologist and OR Manager. The anesthesia tech is accountable to the OR Manager and operates within the framework of Driscoll Children’s Hospital Mission statement and Core Values.
