BJC HealthCare’s St. Louis Children's Hospital is hiring an Anesthesia Technician I/II for weekend coverage in the 6th Floor OR.

You will work alongside anesthesia providers, preparing equipment, stocking supplies, and ensuring the room is ready for procedures. This role offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced pediatric surgical setting and is ideal for those pursuing nursing, anesthesia programs, or other healthcare careers.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: 2-5 years.
• Licenses & Certifications: Anesthesia Technician, Certified Nurse Assistant, CPR/AED.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of anesthesia equipment.
• Stock and organize anesthesia supplies.
• Prepare equipment and supplies for anesthesiologists and CRNAs.
• Provide technical support to the Department of Anesthesia.
• Assist anesthesia providers as directed to support patient care and operating room efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of anesthesia equipment.
• Stock and organize anesthesia supplies.
• Prepare equipment and supplies for anesthesiologists and CRNAs.
• Provide technical support to the Department of Anesthesia.
• Assist anesthesia providers as directed to support patient care and operating room efficiency.

Schedule Options

Weekend Option

• Saturday and Sunday: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every weekend required

Alternative Scheduling Options

• 40 hours per week:
  • Two 8-hour weekday shifts
  • Two 12-hour weekend shifts
• OR 36 hours per week:
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week

Role Purpose

Provides skilled assistance to anesthesiology providers, such as assisting with special procedures, preparing equipment and supplies and providing medications for use by anesthesiologists.

Responsibilities

• Prepares IV, central lines, and sets up transducers. Assists with rapid infusion of blood products, processes blood specimens, and completes EKG tests.
• Sets up, primes, and calibrates various equipment. Completes and documents quality checks on various equipment.
• Assists with special procedures to include, but not limited to, line-placement, fiber optic intubation, hemodilutions, echocardiograms, EEGs and regional anesthesia.
