- Sets up monitoring equipment in the operating room, including the operating table, autotransfusion system, ECG and temperature cables, hyper/hypothermia blanket, medication and pressure manifolds, rapid infusion warmer, recorders, defibrillators, patient monitoring system, and TEE machines.
- Assists during surgical procedures with arterial pressure lines, central venous and Swan-Ganz catheter insertions, blood draws, ventilator checks, monitor operation, and identification of specialized equipment for difficult intubations.
- Calibrates pressures and recording systems to ensure accurate readings.
- Assists in patient transfers to and from the operating room, manages data collection, and establishes monitoring at the destination.
- Cleans and maintains equipment, stocks supplies, and moves anesthesia equipment as needed.
- Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions to ensure safety and functionality, using backup equipment when necessary.
- Provides age-appropriate patient care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles, and interprets patient data to meet individual needs.
Major Responsibilities- Set up and maintain monitoring equipment and assist with invasive procedures.

- Maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
- Provide age-specific patient care based on developmental knowledge.
Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, obtained within 6 months if not already held.
Education RequiredExperience Required- Typically 1 year in a surgical, medical, or related healthcare setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Commitment to ongoing education for hospital certifications.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions- Operate all necessary equipment.
- Work in environments with chemical and radiation hazards, wearing protective clothing as needed.
- Stand, sit, walk, and lift throughout the shift.
- Lift up to 50 lbs., 20 lbs. overhead, and carry 40 lbs. over a distance.
- Push/pull with 30 lbs. force and perform transfers with assistance.
