Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Flint, MI is seeking an Anesthesia Support Technician to assist the anesthesia team in preparing care and maintaining equipment. The role involves preparing and cleaning anesthesia sites, restocking medications, and assisting during case starts.

The position requires 3-6 months of related training, a high school diploma or GED, and BLS certification. Schedule is full-time with daily hours 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and no on-call duties.

Responsibilities

• Assists anesthesiologist/CRNA in preparing anesthesia care delivery.
• Maintains and restocks medications, IV fluids and supplies.
• Prepares and cleans anesthesia sites for delivery of anesthesia to patients.
• Checks and cleans anesthesia machines and monitors before/after use; ensures room turnover.
• Disinfects monitor cables and surfaces; restocks anesthesia cart to par level.
• Obtains emergency and routine drips from Pharmacy for cardiac and routine cases; retrieves special equipment when needed.

Position Summary

Assists the anesthesiologist/CRNA in preparation of anesthesia care delivery. Responsible for maintaining medical equipment, supplies, IV fluids and medications. Prepares and cleans all anesthesia sites for delivery of anesthesia to patients.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Adheres to policies of the Anesthesia Department of McLaren Flint.

• Demonstrates organization ability by using time and equipment effectively.
• Prepares and restocks medications as necessary for professional use.
• Checks and cleans Anesthesia Machines and monitors before and after each use (room turnover) including but not limited to:
• disinfection of all monitor cables, machine surfaces and anesthesia cart surfaces.
• re-stocking of anesthesia cart supplies to maintain identified par level
• discard used/contaminated anesthesia circuit and replaces with clean circuit
• discard used/contaminated suction canister and tubing and replaces with clean canister, tubing and Yankaur suction tip.
• Assists the Anesthesiologists and Anesthetists in preparing and starting cases including but not limited to obtaining emergency and routine drips from Pharmacy (for cardiac, emergency and routine cases) as necessary and obtaining special equipment and supplies (difficult airway carts, TEE probes, IV pumps, line carts, pediatric carts, specialty supplies, etc.).
• For cardiac cases:
• Obtains routine cardiac drips from OR satellite pharmacy.
• Obtains IV pumps (from cart distribution or other hospital locations)
• Obtains TEE probe and ensures connection to TEE machine
• Ensures cardiac room stocked

Required

• Possess 3-6 months of job related training.
• Minimum, High School Graduate degree
• BLS Certified.
