Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to support operating room activities and supply management. Under RN guidance, you will stock supplies, assist with cleaning, and ensure effective communication among staff, patients, and physicians.

The role prioritizes inventory control, accuracy in Pyxis stocking, and collaboration with anesthesia teams to maintain a safe patient environment and smooth case flow.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in a hospital setting is required.
• Knowledge of growth and development as pertinent to job duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inventory management, ordering and stocking of anesthesia supplies.
• Order anesthesia supplies from storeroom daily.
• Stock anesthesia supplies in Operating Rooms daily.
• Stock medications in Pyxis machines for pharmacy as needed.
• Clean and stock in Operating Rooms between cases.
• Report equipment problems to Biomed and Anesthesia as needed.
• Assist in evaluation of new equipment and supplies.
• Assist Anesthesia with anesthesia procedures as needed (e.g., difficult airway, arterial lines, nerve blocks).
• Orient new staff and students to anesthesia supplies and equipment.
• Communicate regularly with Anesthesia Charge provider about changes in supplies, medications, equipment, back orders, substitutions.
• Maintain established department, unit, and hospital policies, procedures, and objectives.
