Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a skilled OR support technician to assist in anesthesia setup, patient transport, and equipment maintenance. The role includes lifting and positioning patients, assisting during anesthesia induction, and handling critical equipment such as pacemakers and monitoring lines.

The position requires familiarity with pharmaceutical names used by the department and the ability to prepare and coordinate equipment for transport of critically ill patients.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of generic and current trade names of all pharmaceuticals used by the department.
• Setup and calibration of anesthesia machines and equipment.
• Prepare equipment needed for transport of critically ill patients and assist in transport.

Responsibilities

• Assists in setups for all emergent and non-emergent procedures, including open hearts and traumas.
• Obtains and prepares all equipment needed for transport of critically ill patients and assists in their transport.
• Assists in lifting and positioning of patients.
• Assists anesthetist during the induction of anesthesia as required.
• Sends blood to stat lab for analysis.
• Performs laboratory procedures for labeling, container selection, lab slip preparation, and techniques for tube operation.
