Job summary

The Anesthesia Technician role at Community Health Systems supports the anesthesia team by preparing equipment, assisting with procedures, and maintaining supplies to ensure safe and efficient patient care in Knoxville.

Under anesthesia team supervision, you will troubleshoot equipment, stock supplies, assist with airway management and vital signs monitoring, and participate in perioperative activities across diverse patient populations.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Anesthesia Technician program preferred.
• College coursework in Biology, Physiology, Anatomy or related fields preferred.
• 0-2 years as an Anesthesia Technician in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
• 1-2 years as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up, calibrate, and maintain anesthesia equipment and monitoring devices.
• Assist with aseptic or sterile techniques during procedures, including airway management and IV/arterial line placement.
• Monitor and report abnormal patient vitals to anesthesia providers.
• Stock anesthesia supplies in ORs and other procedural areas to ensure readiness.
• Assist with laboratory tests (ABGs, ACTs) and point-of-care assays.
• Deliver blood products and pharmaceuticals as requested by the anesthesia team.
• Provide guidance to other anesthesia staff as needed.
• Support patient transport and positioning under supervision.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs.
• Maintain readiness for routine and emergency procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
